Lesego's Journey to Miss Botswana

Lesego Chombo is the reigning Miss Botswana. She was crowned in October 2022 and is set to represent Botswana at the 2024 Miss World competition.

She was also a titleholder in the Miss Women Empowerment 2017 pageant and was crowned Queen Esther in 2012.

Over and above being a beauty queen, the 25-year-old is an admitted Attorney at Law, with 2 years of practicing experience. She prides herself in being multifaceted and this is evidenced by her experience as a promotional model, an entrepreneur, speaker, musician, creative, and philanthropist.

She is the founder of the Lesego Chombo Foundation which houses her charity initiative, the Genesis Project. With her history in pageantry, the creative industry, and the law, she is committed to being a driving force of mindset change, proving that young people can pursue their passions and use them for the betterment of their communities. 

As an admitted Attorney at Law who has practiced with Kebabonye Business Law before her crowning as Miss Botswana, Lesego brings her legal acumen to the forefront, championing justice and advocating for the rights of those in need.

Her commitment to the legal profession is a testament to her dedication to making a positive impact through the law. She further affords this justice to the public as well through her online platform called “Law Talks” where she shares legal nuggets with ordinary citizens. 

The Lesego Chombo Foundation as registered in November 2023 aims to create better living conditions for families living in poverty and bridge the socio-economic gap between urban and rural communities. The foundation houses the Genesis Project which has been running since March 2022.

One of the things Lesego values is family because her very own has taught her the most valuable life lessons: hard work, humility, and service to those in need.

Having a home environment that fostered her growth into the all-rounder that she is has inspired her to create a conducive environment for the development of economically disadvantaged children through her very own Genesis Project.

The project runs a developmental program for parents and children in rural communities. The parents’ program imparts them with practical skills and knowledge of how to raise their children in a conducive environment despite their limited financial means.

In the spirit of breaking barriers caused by geography and social backgrounds, the children’s program implements educational activities from a predominantly artistic perspective where the children are introduced to artistry, arts and crafts, learning musical instruments, career & entrepreneurship education, confidence & self-validation coaching, games and fun, to ultimately get them to become open to life beyond academics in school.

The goal of this initiative is to reshape their perspective by adding value to their cognitive development and planting a seed that they will grow with. Lesego Chombo is deeply committed to uplifting the lives of children. Her passion for empowerment is evident in her various roles and initiatives. As a founder of the Lesego Chombo Foundation, she strives to protect and uplift the lives of children, aiming to create a positive impact on their futures.
